SODDY DAISY FIREFIGHTERS BATTLE A FULLY INVOLVED STRUCTURE FIRE

Sunday, November 27,2005 - 2:00 am - City of Soddy Daisy Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire on Dayton Pike near Burns Road. When the first fire engine arrived on the scene they reported a heavily involved structure with multiple exposures and live power line down next to the fire.

Within minutes a second fire truck arrived on the scene and established a water supply from a fire hydrant. Several fire crews immediately started attacking the blaze with inch and three quarter hose lines. Fire crews were able to knock the blaze down in short order, unfortunately the damage was already done.

The garage and all three vehicles in it had been totally destroyed. Luckily firefighters were able to knock down the flames that had spread to the nearby house before any structural damage was done. Although the siding and some cosmetic damage had been sustained by the house, the interior was unharmed.

Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the early morning blaze. The garage was considered a total loss. Dayton Pike was closed for several hours while firefighters worked in the area. No injuries were reported.
